Founder Frank Woods got the name Clos Du Bois, which translates loosely to ?enclosure in the woods?, as a suggestion from his children who were studying French at the time. Their first release was a traditional 1974 Chardonnay. Today Clos Du Bois continues to carry on an Alexander Valley winemaking tradition. Their production consists of their classic and most popular releases, along with some single appellation reserves, and as a tribute to the Sonoma County wine region, their Marlstone, Briarcrest, and Calcaire collections.
